Hyper Pigmentation of the skin can be caused by a variety of factors.
In trials hyperpigmentation showed an excellent improvement with microdermabrasion. After eight sessions, a complete clearance of hyperpigmentation was shown. For many people 4 treatments is enough to fully remove the upper dermal layer. The treatment enhances skin hydration and improves epidermal barrier function.
In a study conducted by Rajan and Grimes, they enrolled eight patients (four men and four women) in a split - face study. Of the patients, results for all showed a significant improvement in hyperpigmentation result after just 3 treatments. What all this means is that the upper dermis of the skin can be dramatically restored creating a younger over all skin appearance with microdermabrasion alone.
Microdermabrasion can simultaneously improve facial and neck aging. In tests oily skin with dilated pores have showed significant improvement. With weekly sessions of microdermabrasion , all clinical variables were improved after each weekly session. Clients also reported improvements in self-esteem.
To get deeper in the lower dermis, a course of microdermabrasion may be followed by 6 sessions of derma pen skin needling. A collagen serum may be applied to build up the skin and add hydration.
For pigmentation, the best results have been observed when clients avoid exposure to the sun or light treatments of any kind.
